Composer Christian Baldini

Solo Instrument

Description :
Colori notturni was written four years ago as a response to my love for the music of Robert Schumann and Luciano Berio. It was written for pianist Jacob Greenberg of the ICE, as a single, prelude-like piece.
It is very delicate in nature, and explores different gradations of sonorities within a rather motionless, yet lyrical context. The seeds for the piece are extracted from Berio’s encores and from Schumann’s Geistervariationen, which is the last piece he wrote - supposedly dictated to him by the angels.
It has been performed by Jacob Greenberg and Eric Zivian.
