Marco Antonio Suárez Cifuentes, composer, was born in Colombia. He studied music composition with Harold Vasquez, Michael Gatonska, Alba Triana and Guillermo Gaviria at the Javeriana University (Bogotá) where he obtained the Music Composition diploma with honours in 2001. From 2002 to 2006 he studied music composition with M. Emmanuel Nunes and electro-acoustic music composition with M. Luis Naón at the CNSMDP, the « Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris », where he obtained the Diplôme de Formation Supérieur (DFS) in composition in 2006. In 2005 he worked with Michael Levinas, Bryan Ferneyhough et Jean-Luc Hervé in the « Voix Nouvelles » composition summer course of the Royaumont foundation. From 2006 to 2009 he worked with Robin Meier, Mikhail Malt, Emmanuel Jourdan, Jean Lochard et Yan Maresz. in the « Cursus de Composition et d’informatique Musicale » and the « Formation spécialisée en composition recherche et nouvelles tecnologies » at IRCAM, Paris. Within this context, in 2009 the Ensemble Intercontemporain, has first performed his project « Poetry for // dark - / dolls », for voice, ensemble and life électronics in two performance spaces. His music has been performed in South America, Europe by groups as the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain, the Ensemble Multilaterale, Vortex, Contemporanea, Contrechamps, leBalcon Onyx, l'Itinéraire l’Instant Donnée et Decibelio. He has been resident composer at the CMM (Multi Média Centre) of the CENART in México in 2003, the studio MIA in 2006, la Muse en Circuit in 2008, the GRAME in 2009-2010 and ArtZOYD in 2010. Marco Suarez Cifuentes music has been commissioned by the IRCAM, the GRAME, the French Ministry of Culture, the Colombian Ministry of Culture, the SACEM and the Royaumont Foundation. From 2008 to 2009 he worked with Myriam Gourfink as Referent Composer in the « Transforme » dance program of the Royaumont Foundation. Actually Marco Suarez Cifuentes is working with the choreographer Clémence Coconnier in the multimedia project “Plis”. And collaborates as composer in the IMTR research team at IRCAM for the project MUBU with M. Norbert Schnell.
