Ana Dall'Ara-Majek is a composer and sound artist living in Montréal (Québec). She is interested in the study of how instrumental, electroacoustic and computational-thinking approaches interact in musical composition. Her studies took place between France (with Christine Groult, José Manuel López López, and Philippe Leroux) and Québec (with Robert Normandeau, and Pierre Michaud). In 2016, she obtained a doctorate in composition from the Université de Montréal, where she also taught a number of courses in the digital music section.
 
Her works have been presented at numerous festivals, including: GRM’s Multiphonies (France), L’Espace du son (Belgium), The Engine Room (UK), Akousma (Québec), Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik (Germany), Elektro Arts (Romania), Symposium IX (Québec), Sonic Matters (Switzerland), PULS (Norway), and Norbergfestival (Sweden).
 
She is active in the fields of electroacoustic / mixed composition and live electronic music performance. She regularly performs with Ensemble ILÉA, blablaTrains, and Jane/KIN as thereminist and electronic musician.
Her activities also include collaborations with chamber ensembles such as Architek Percussion, Ensemble Paramirabo, Quasar, Whim Ensemble, Ensemble AKA, Les Percussions de Strasbourg, Sixtrum, Taller Sonoro, and Lunatics at Large.
In 2020-21, she produced her first sound installations as part of the intersectoral project AuXauralités led by Philippe-Aubert Gauthier, which aim was to integrate metamaterials into the artistic realm.
Her articles focus mainly on musical analysis and compositional approaches (eOrema Journal in 2014; Magison in 2016; Circuit, musiques contemporaines in 2018, ’20 and ’23) as well as analog and digital gestural instruments (NIME in 2019 and ’21). Her musical work is published by Kohlenstoff Records, Éditions Henri Lemoine, and empreintes DIGITALes.
