Toykan Efe Kahraman (b.1999, Izmir, Turkey) is a composer, who focuses on behaving to the sound as a single hybrid object that is derived from a combination of some kind of living organisms. He likes to picture the sonic narrations and this behavior becomes a sonic experiment all the time. As a structural approach, he is working with dynamic forms which include strong contrasts within. Also, he is interested in physical aspects of sound production, so its energy. 


Kahraman’s works recently have been performed in various festivals such as International Cappadocia "Composers Cauldron" (2018), Sesin Yolculuğu Young Composers Festival - İstanbul (2019), VIII.IMCNM Course Contrast Festival - Lviv (2019), Izmir New Music Days - Izmir (2021), Basklarinet Festijn - Amsterdam (2021), Festival DME - Lisbon (2021), Digitizmir - Izmir (2021) and his works have been performed by Fie Schouten, Ensemble X, Diskant Ensemble, Ensemble Nostri Temporis, Ensemble Handwerk, Lovemusic Collective and Ensemble KNM - Berlin.


He had the opportunity to attend various events and had found chance to study with distinguished composers Raphaël Cendo, Marco Stroppa, Helena Tulve, Valerio Sannicandro, Jaime Reis, Vassos Nicolaou, Anna Korsun, Sergej Maingardt, Simon Vosecek and among others. 


He was recently awarded a new commission for a Guitar Quartet by IMCNM Contrast Festival - Lviv. He currently continues his studies with Asst.Prof.Füsun Köksal.
