Notes on this piece
Elasmosaurus was the longest known representative of the plesiosaurs. He had the enormously elongated neck with more than half the body length; about 8 by 14 m. Elasmosaurus consisted of a total of 71 neck vertebrae.  The viola plays always a contrary playing technique than the other instruments in this piece. Where the viola plays arco, pizz other three instruments play in. Where the viola plays pizz other three instruments play arco.  This exceptional role of the viola is compared with the neck of Elasmosaurus. The whole body of Elasmosaurus consists of the relatively thin but extremely long neck developed, viola, and the chubby body, other three strings
