Notes on this piece
Dilating is a scientific phenomenon in which space and time dilates when approaching the speed of light. The music is delineated into three parts, in which the first and last parts share resemblance in terms of gestures and styles—minimalistic texture dominates where each line interweaves with each other and displays repetitive figurations in association with rhythmic variance and transformation. The middle part displays substantial contrasts in character in which sustained and long notes characterize the texture for generating meditative atmosphere. The whole piece begins with a single pitch and it gradually unfolds by means of addition of different pitches, interacting with other layers for generating different tone colors. The music again ends with the single pitch E, fading away mysteriously and unnoticeably.
