Dengue is a piece composed in 2012 for the Modern Hue Ensemble and fixed electronics. It seeks to explore new ways of creating shape and narrative. The opening piano chord that continues throughout the first part of the piece acts as a catalyst for events to occur. Analagous to a machine, the piano chord abruptly triggers or cuts off the machine irregularly, but over time, the machine gradually breaks down.
