Notes on this piece The memories of a walk frequently comes to my mind. It was a long and lone walk in an early evening of July, around a suburb region of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, a railway piercing through. I walked by the railway but met no train. I met many people but talked to none. And many buildings, some of them built in the 1980s and others seemed new. I was detached from my own everyday life and looking on the phantoms of residents there. Now in my memory, the streets I walked through resemble relics of human life, with apparent tinnitus reverberating.
