This piece is an approach to answering how I – a Polish composer perceive Japanese culture. Several things come to my mind when I think about Japan: meditation, contemplation of nature, sublime poetry – haiku, discipline and many more.
I tried to find correlations between both our cultures. I found several in a poem by Karol Wojtyła (later – Pope John Paul II) entitled Song of the Brightness of Water (pl: Pieśń o blasku wody). Insight to oneself and growth of a spirit – this serene and tranquil, but unrestrained evolution is a topic both my piece and the poem.
