This piece was designed for preparation and presentation via internet, and it was comissioned for a series of "Micro Premieres in Quarantine" by the Santo André Symphony Orchestra, designed for the preventive social isolation during COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the musical materials employed, as well as the subtitle of the piece, come from Recordare domine / Adjuva nos, a 5-voice "contra pestem" motet composed in the early 16th century by Philippe Verdelot, on a cantus firmus by Jacob Obrecht (then a recent victim of the plague in Ferrara).
