A quatrain of great mystical persian poet Djalâl-od-Dîn Rûmi was my principal guide for the composition of “Roseraies”.
All the atoms which are in the air and the sky
For us are roseries, orchards
Though gold comes to us from the mine
Each water drop is a magic: it conceals the sea of Oman.
The links between these elements seem to generate a ceaseless universal movement between the immense and the tiny. By music I wanted to evoke this by circular gestures connecting extremes between them (very high – very low /very slow – very fast, etc...).
During the composition of this work I also thought of rotary movements of the whirling dervishe... whose story starts precisely with Rumi.
