Fanfara Magno Arcano

Fanfara Magno Arcano was completed in February 2007 written for the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra (ASON). The piece explores the lower range of the orchestra creating a dark and thunderous sonic texture that slowly evolves in height, volume and intensity through turbulence resulting in a flat and solid surface towards the end of the piece. The piece uses tempo in a rather elastic way with extreme accelerations and decelerations in tempo. It aims to create dramatic moments of energy, force and momentum. Distictive sound shapes barely stand out of the orchestra's holophonic texture and sometimes reveal their existence unexpectedly or for a single moment. All orchestral body as a complex sound stream dissipates the listener's perceived apportionment in order to create a monolithic aurality.
