Notes on this piece
The compositional starting point of the piece was the fascination for two quite young instruments, their technical possibilities and timbre richness: the E-Bass and the E-Guitar. The global sound of the work indeed  is generated and developed from some ‘seed-sounds’ produced by the E-Guitar, as combination of ordinary and extended playing-techniques as well of the electronic sounds generated by the guitar’s effects.Starting from these ‘seed-sounds’, a net of sonic-relations is created, a net which tends towards two different poles, sometime diverging, sometimes converging: the world of pure electronic sounds and the pure instrumental one. The E-Guitar ‘lives’ between these two poles and it has a double function: with its ‘seed-sounds’, it becomes a sort of root (radix) of the sonic world; it becomes also a bridge between the pure electronic and the ensemble. Then the piece consists of a continuous imbalance toward one or the other, in a sort of symbiotic relationship or of strong distinction. The different peculiarities of the ‘seed-sounds’ trace also the formal trajectory, which does not proceed in a linear way: it polarize the movement toward the high register of the processed acoustic-sounds, or towards the pure synthetic ones.
