Notes on this piece
The piece is inspired by a poem by Christian Morgenstern, "Das Mondschaf" (The moon sheep) from the 1905 collection "Galgenlieder".
The poem reads as follows:

The moon sheep stands on a wide corridor.
It waits and waits for the great shearing.
Moon Sheep.

The moon sheep plucks a stalk.
And then go home to its pasture.
Moon Sheep.

The moon sheep speaks to itself in the dream:
"I am the dark room of the universe."
The moon sheep.

The moon sheep is dead in the morning.
Its body is white, the sun is red.
Moon Sheep.
