Notes on this piece

First performed on the 17th of November, 2008 at the Victorian College of the Arts School of Music with Evan Lawson singing the solo, conducted by Christine Storey, and featuring Emma Capponi, Loukia Guantlet, Matthew Kneal, Jessica Fotinos, Luke Paulding, Isabel Hede and Lucy Waldron.

Programme Note

Originally devised as a sort of narrative-less chamber opera for solo voice, this work is one which is a collection of various aspects of music and life I enjoy; my favourite colours, characters form Childhood, imagery and daydreams.

These were banded together into the text I devised, which when I was writing also followed the cheeky and hyper sexualised Satyr through many conquests and adventures.

I guess I’ve tried to capture his day dreams and desires as well, but in no way do I wish this to govern the listener; take from the piece what you will.
