Guilherme de Almeida
Play all audio recordingsAfter extensive studies in piano, singing, and composition, as well as a rich professional experience in his hometown of São Paulo, Brazil, Guilherme de Almeida moved to Paris in 2019 to fully dedicate himself to the study of composition and improvisation at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.
His journey reflects a creative, curious, and enthusiastic spirit. He began as a solo baritone at Sala São Paulo, performed on the piano in prestigious concert halls, and contributed to symphonic and opera choirs. He also accompanied dance classes at the São Paulo Dance School and, as a cellist, joined several orchestras. Furthermore, he joined the choir of the São Paulo Opera, where several of his compositions were premiered.
In parallel, Guilherme de Almeida has been involved in teaching piano, music theory, and music initiation, collaborating on music education social projects in Brazil.
Artistic creation allows him to unify his multiple talents while expressing his inner universe. Besides music, poetry and visual arts play a significant role in his creative work. In 2020, he exhibited his installation "e as Árvores chovem depois" at the Paris Conservatory, accompanied by short films, and also released the acclaimed album "Piano Improvisations", praised by the Orpheus Classical commission for its quality and originality.
Guilherme de Almeida is the recipient of the Drouet-Bourgeois Prize and has received scholarships from the l'Or du Rhin Foundation, the Foundation de France, the Meyer Foundation, and the ONYX Foundation. In 2020, his first string quartet "Prece ao Brasil" won the third prize at the International Composition Competition of the European String Quartet. That same year, his piano improvisation "Réminiscences d'une Étoile Occise" earned him the first prize at the Moscow International Piano Competition.
Guilherme de Almeida regularly performs solo piano concerts at the Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé Foundation as part of silent film cycles. He also receives commissions from the São Paulo Opera, chamber music ensembles, and soloists. To date, he has released four albums, each revealing a fragment of his inner universe: "Piano Improvisations", "Visions", "Voz", and most recently, "Piano Improvisations II."
