Composer. Madrid, 1958. Studied in this city´s music college as well as in the Musikhochschule of Cologne (Germany). Composition studies with Carmelo Barnaola and Luis de Pablo, and electroacoustic music with Hans Ulrich Humpert.  Attended summer courses with teachers such as Luigi Nono, Cristóbal Halffter and Tomás Marco.
 
He holds the highest composition teaching degree in Spain and Germany. Received (1986-87) a grant from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to compose a piece based on the computer transformation of words.
 
Member (1978-82) of the ancient music group Atrivm Mvsicae. Lecturer on musical matters. Concert critic for the Spanish National Radio, for which he has also produced music programs. Professor of composition in Albacete (Spain). Founder and composer in residence of Proyecto Gerhard (1996-2001). Associated Composer of the ensemble Proyecto Guerrero until 2003.
 
His pieces have been played in major festivals (Frankfurt, Geneva, London, Sidney, Granada, Alicante, Musicadhoy…) by performers such as the European Community Youth Orchestra and the Spanish National Orchestra, Klangforum Wien, Malmö Orchestra, among others.
 
He has written an opera, Timon of Athens (based on Shakespeare’s play), which was commissioned by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and was premiered in 1992, among the events organized that year when Madrid was "cultural capital" of the European Union.
 
Has been director of the magazine La noche cromática in the classical station of the National Spanish Radio (2004/08), director of the music department of the university of Alcalá and of the music journal Quodlibet.
