Composer, improviser, and academic at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He has composed music in various formats and geometries, ranging from solo instrumental works, conventional chamber ensembles, electroacoustic music, orchestral music, to multimedia pieces including video and dance. His compositional practice, based on collaboration with 'recursive methods,' explores a diversity of sonic combinations and collective situations in music, one of the most distinctive qualities of his musical approach. This search for new sonorities is also permeated by free improvisation—a source of inspiration for the encounter with emerging and unheard musical structures—which he embraces as an inseparable strategy from composition. Developed largely with Taller Ciclo, this practice focuses on gesture, exploring both the figural dynamism of sound actions and the gesture of dilated time and notions of silence. He studied at the University of Chile, mainly under Juan Amenábar, and abroad with composers such as Gabriel Brnčić, Philippe Manoury, Marco Stroppa, and Liza Lim.
