Areum Lee is a Korean composer and lives in Germany.
Her work focuses on metaphysical ideas in everyday life and the power inherent in music, which she associates with her own intuitive and religious interpretations. She is interested in the connection of essential meanings in music with different means of conveying these meanings and seeks to make invisible forms perceptible through theatrical devices and electronics.

Lee studied at the Hanyang University in Seoul and the Bremen University of the Arts under Prof. Jörg Birkenkötter and Prof. Kilian Schwoon. Last year she successfully completed her studies (Excellence Course in composition) at the Robert Schumann College under José María Sánchez-Verdú. During her studies she received the Deutschland Scholarship. Lee is a member of the Ensemble morph. Her pieces have been performed in Korea and Europe (for example, at the Pan Music Festival), and interpreted by numerous ensembles such as oh Ton, Mobile Beats, Rot, EWCM, NAMES and Klangrauschen.
She is currently a scholarship student at the Künstlerhaus Lauenburg, working in Lauenburg, Düsseldorf.
