Born on January 16, 1971 in Bisceglie, in 1987 he began studying the viola and composition at the same time (with Matteo D’Amico and Michelangelo Lupone for the composition, P. Farulli, A. Ghedin and C. Erdelyí for the viola).

In 1994 he obtained the Diploma in Viola with full marks and began an activity both as a chamber music interpreter and as a soloist, in the same year his first compositions were performed (including a piece for viola and Live Electronics)

In 1995 he moved to Germany and turned his attention increasingly towards contemporary music, obtained an "Aufbaustudium" in Viola at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen and attended masterclasses with Barbara Maurer (Ensemble Recherche) and Garth Knox (ex Arditti Quartet ); contact with the latter has a decisive influence on his future work as a contemporary music performer. He is also active as a soloist performing compositions by Sciarrino, Maderna, Grisey, Murail and Scelsi in numerous recitals.

After a period devoted almost exclusively to interpretation, he attended a workshop held by Vinko Globokar and Johannes Kalitzke. On the advice of the teachers he continued his composition studies in Cologne in the class of York Höller where he graduated in 2000 with a thesis dealing with different aspects of semiotics in correlation with musical composition (“Komposition als semiotischer Prozess”); at the contemporary music institute of the Musikhochschule he studied conducting with Peter Eötvös and made his debut with the WDR orchestra in the world premiere of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Hoch Zeiten.

He also directs for the Cologne Triennale, the Darmstadt Ferienkurse, the Canary Islands Festival (Spain) and the Acanthes Festival (Avignon). Since 1997 various compositions have been performed in Germany and Italy, he receives commissions from various ensembles, from the Bayerische Staatsoper and from the Donaueschinger Musiktage.

Participates in workshops held by Helmuth Lachenmann, Jonathan Harvey, Magnus Lindberg; in the same period he continued his studies with Hans Zender in Frankfurt and began a course of electronic music studies with Dirk Reith in Essen and then studied privately with Emmanuel Nunes in Paris. He wins various conposition competitions in Germany (Leipzig, Rostock, Frankfurt and MUSICA VIVA - Munich 2002) and in Italy (Udine), a scholarship from the CDMC of Paris, as well as the "Kranichsteiner Musikpreis 2000" of the Darmstadt Ferienkurse. He has lectured on his works at the Humboldt-Universität in Berlin, at the Academy of Music in Prague and was a lecturer at the Darmstadt Ferienkurse in 2002. He receives an "Arbeitsstipendium" from the Heinrich-Strobel-Stiftung for the year 2003. He is he was invited to the IRCAM Cursus de composition, where he then worked as a compositeur associé in a research group on spatialization.

His works have been performed in Italy, Germany, France, Luxembourg, England, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Sweden, USA and Japan by Salome Kammer, Peter Veale, by the Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Kroumata, Musikfabrik NRW, Ensemble Aleph, Ensemble Resonanz, Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Hilversum Radio Kamerorkest, and conducted by Peter Eötvös, Jonathan Stockhammer, Renato Rivolta, Peter Hirsch, Pierre-André Valade, recorded and broadcast by various radio stations (HR, MDR, WDR, BR , Radio Bremen) and recorded on Cd.
