Iván Adriano was born in Mexico City in 1985. He got his first contact with arts at seven when he began studying painting, engraving and sculpture. During his teenage years he had his first musical experiences playing guitar and e-guitar in jazz and rock bands. Between 2000 and 2004 he participated in numerous concerts and festivals with guitar ensembles. Since 2004 he studied classical guitar at Faculty of Music of National University of Mexico (UNAM). In 2006, he went to Accademia Chigiana fo Siena, Italy, to learn the classical repertoire. In the following years, he would make pilgrimages to study contemporary music for guitar with performers from Cuba, Serbia, Netherlands, France and Germany. He left the guitar for a few years to dedicate to free improvisation and ephemeral creations with interdisciplinary and experimental groups in Mexico and France. In 2016, he decided to study a master’s degree in Music and Musicology at Sorbonne University, in Paris. After that, he returned to Mexico to visit some composers and learn composition with Julio Estrada, Germán Romero and Ignacio Baca-Lobera. In 2018, he returned to France to study instrumental and electronic composition at Conservatory of Boulogne-Bilancourt with Jean-Luc Hervé and Yan Maresz. Since 2019 he complements his composition studies, attending courses in UK, Israel and Russia. In this context he has collaborated with professional ensembles as Liminar Ensemble (Mexico), L’Itinéraire (France), Écoute Ensemble (France), Psappha (UK) and Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (Rusia). In 2021 he participated as performer at the Darmstadt Summer Course, in Germany, and as a composer at Impuls Academy, in Austria. Nowadays, Iván Adriano is a PhD candidate in Music and Musicology at Sorbonne University.
