David Hudry

David Hudry (b.1978) studied Musicology at the University Paul Valery of Montpellier and concurrently pursued his studies in Composition at the Conservatory of Montpellier with Christophe de Coudenhove. In 2002, he obtained his Master's-level teaching certification: «Agrégation » in musicology and began working as a pedagogue. He is now teaching at Lycée Henri Martin (Saint-Quentin) preparing gifted students for their tertiary education entrance exams into the École Normale Supérieure. In 2008, he completed his Master’s in Composition and New Technologies, with honours, at the National Conservatory of Paris under the guidance of Emmanuel Nunes and Stefano Gervasoni. He was also awarded the Meyer Foundation bursary upon being selected for the year-long information technology course at IRCAM.
Interested in meeting and exploring different musical horizons, Hudry participated in composition workshops at Acanthes (2000 – 2002 – 2009), “Voix Nouvelles 2009” in Royaumont, and most recently June in Buffalo 2010.
Different ensembles, such as Ensemble Linea and the Arditti Quartet, have performed Hudry’s music. He also had the good fortune to work with soloists like, Séverine Ballon (Ensemble Multilatérale), Lionel Bord (Orchestre de Paris), Pierre Strauch, Christophe Desjardins, Eric-Maria Couturier, Alain Billard (Ensemble Intercontemporain), and Luigi Gaggero.
Current projects include a cross project with Recherche Ensemble and Freiburg Baroque Ensemble and a composition residency in Prague.
