Gabriele Cosmi was born in 1988.
He obtained his composition studies, with highest honors, at the Conservatorio Giuseppe
Verdi in Milan with Alessandro Solbiati. Essential for its formation the meeting with Ivan
Fedele with whom he graduated at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, with
the highest honors.
He has been awarded in several international competitions such as: Concour International de
Geneve, Biennale College, Feeding Music International Composition Competition,
A.Rendano International Composition Competition, International Composition Competition
Luigi Nono, Jorge Peixinho International Composition Competition, and many others.
In 2014 he was selected by the Comitè de Lecture of Ircam to attend the Cursus 1. In 2015
he was selected by Radio Rai of Turin to represent Italy at the International Rostrum of
Composers of UNESCO in Tallinn. In the same year he was selected as a composer in
residence at the Académie de France in Rome (Villa Medici). In 2016 he was selected as the
only Italian composer to Mario Merz Prize (final 2017). In 2016 he was named among the
three finalists of the Lili Boulanger Memorial Fund of Boston (2017 final ) .
His music has been performed in Italy (Venice, Milan, Cagliari, Rome, Florence, Turin),
Greece (Athens), United States (Los Angeles), Germany (Berlin, Dusseldorf), Peru (Cuzco,
Quito), Belgium (Brussels), France (Paris, Strasbourg), Israel (Tel Aviv), Switzerland
(Geneva, Lugano), Portugal (Lisbon, Montijo), Poland (Warsaw, Gdasnsk).
His works have been commissioned by seasons, festivals and theaters such as the Biennale di
Venezia (Venice), Muza Plus (Tel Aviv), Festival Milano Musica (Milan), Torrance Art
Museum (Los Angeles), Teatro la Fenice di Venezia (Venice), Festival Musica Strasbourg,
Video Art Festival Quito (Peru), Théâtre de Liège, Auditorium Parco della Musica (Rome),
Accademia Filarmonica Romana (Rome), Teatro Stabile di Napoli (Naples), Studio ErnestAnsermet (Geneva), Rai Nuova Musica (Turin), Damen und Herren (Dusseldorf), Auditorium
Joaquim d'Almeida (Lisbon), Expo (Milan), Institut fuer Alles Mögliche (Berlin), Società del
Quartetto (Milan).
He has collaborated with ensembles, orchestras, soloists and conductors including Gregory
Charette, Filippo Perocco, Francesco Lanzillotta, Rui Pinheiro, Carlo Rizzari, Carlo
Boccadoro, Ensemble Contrechamps, Ensemble Sentieri Selvaggi, Ensemble Geometrie
Variabili (soloists OSN Rai of Turin), London Sinfonietta, Ensemble Hopper, Minh-Tâm
Nguyen (Les Percussions de Strasbourg), GMCL Ensemble of Lisboa, Daniel Ciampolini
(Ensemble Intercontemporain), Divertimento Ensemble, Arcus Wien Ensemble, National
Symphony Orchestra of Rai of Turin, Trento Symphony Orchestra, Sarah Maria Sun, Felix
Renggli, Robberto Fabbriciani, Jean-François Heisser, Alfonso Alberti, Jean-Frédéric

His music is published by Edizioni Suvini Zerboni of Milan. His works have been broadcast
by radio stations such as Radio Rai 3 (Italy), RTP (Portugal), Euro Classic, RTS
(Switzerland), RTV (Slovenian), Radio Press (Corsica), ABC (Australia) and others.
