Shine

Work commissioned by the Spain Cultural Center in Buenos Aires (CCEBA) for the 2009 cycle for
solo instruments. Dedicated to violinist David Nuñez, whom first performed the piece in Buenos
Aires on April 25, 2009. SHINE, from its title, the piece refers to "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" by
British band Pink Floyd. A few fragments and isolated melodic designs of the original theme were
taken by Valverde, as starting points for the formal construction of music, exploring expressive and
virtuoso instrument aspects, through melodic / harmonic nonlinearities arising from underlying
way. These figures will become omnipresent horizon instead of constantly changing through
mutation of timbre and registration. The work was included in his repertoire by British violinist
Irvine Arditti and performed by him in his Latin American tour in 2011.
