Notes sur cette pièce

Rifrazioni oltre il limite metafisico (Refractions beyond the metaphysical limit) consists of six movements without interruptions. The phenomenon of the wave refraction constantly recurs throughout each passage, generating periodicity, temporal oscillations and diverse structures. The "focal points" in some passages generate either divergences or convergences of sound objects or/and musical characters that can undergo increases, decreases, rarefactions and intensifications.

I. is a prelude to the II. The percussive element of the flute leads the listener from a general perception of the elements independence to one particular that creates a dialogue between the flute and the clarinet.

The objet trouvé is shaped throughout the I. and integrated into the II. «... in the air ...», where different sound objects gravitate to own chronological time with autonomous periodicity. They are "luminous" objects that create timbral clouds, but the periodicity converges towards a precise point in time. From this point on, everything undergoes a temporal reordering that before appears to be a refraction effect, then undergoes a mutation, an expansion and finally a rarefaction.

In III., the refraction point is the beginning. From this point on, timbral bands will come alive with different graininess.

In IV., the elements sway from side to side in timbral blocks: some are lost, others reappear and come alive, creating tensions, lacerations and generating new timbral blocks. The self-powered circle implodes as a vaporization effect.

V. calls to mind the III., but, here, the refractions are frequent, creating a continuous game of ironic rebounds.

In VI., two musical "souls" coexist. These collide, converge, and then dissolve, absorbing themselves in a unique and pure sound.
