Notes sur cette pièce
The setting of the biblical Song of Songs (in Czech) in a way that somehow continues in the tradition of mediaeval „liturgical dramas”. The composition is divided into 7 parts (dialogues) and 5 interludes (nocturnes), however music continues without interruption.

The basic principle of work is the dialogue between two subjects. The pairing of the singer and actor is as one person in two “natures”. Meant symbolically. When we only hear singing or only see actors, they are still a whole person – the two Beloved. I see the main plane as erotic – the intimate relationship between a man and a woman in transparent beauty. The second plane for me is mystical – the intimate relationship between the soul and Christ. In other words, “the erotic in the church” is supposed to point out that the intimacy between a man and a woman isn’t locked into itself, the two aren’t here for themselves only. Just the opposite, intimacy actually means opening oneself up. The man and a woman coming together creates unity, into which God himself enters mystically.
