Notes on this piece

I have always felt close to ancient antiquity, its personages, mythologies, teachings, histories and languages. My Piece De Rerum Natura (On the Nature of Things) is thus based on the excerpt of the text of the same name by Roman writer Titus LucretiusCarus(99 BC – 55 BC). Namely, Lucretius explores the nature of the mind and soul, sensation and thought; the development of the world and its celestial and terrestrial phenomena. In my piece, Lucretius words are juxtaposed with beautiful verses of Fernando Pessoa. The two seemingly unrelated texts complement one another, explain one another and provide one another with a different context in which they acquire additional meanings and additional sentiments.

Aesthetically speaking, this piece, as well as many of my other piecesis a sublimation of my recent musical infatuations. I have never tried to escape role models. On contrary I prefer them to be heard in the pieces I write. In addition, this piece is also influenced by Byzantine sacral music that has been an important driving force for me lately.
