Born in Cuba in 1994, Daniel Toledo obtained a bachelor's degree with honors in composition at the University of the Arts, ISA of Havana in the class of Professor Dr. Roberto Valera in 2019He also studied choral conducting at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory. He is currently studying bachelor's in choral conducting at the HfKM-Regensburg, while he will receive a master's degree in composition at the end of 2023 from the same institution in the class of Professor Steven Heelein. He has also received master classes from Tristan Murail, Boris Alvarado and Sergio Barroso, while receiving private lessons from composer Tulio Peramo in Cuba. In the academic field he has worked as a teacher at the University of the Arts, ISA teaching the subject "techniques of contemporary music" to composition students. At the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory he worked as a teacher of music history, analysis and choral conducting 

 

As a composer he has been actively working since 2015 presenting his music at festivals and concerts in Cuba, Germany, Argentina, Switzerland, USA, Austria and ChileExamples of this are the Contemporary Music Festivals of the UNEAC in Cuba, the Weeks of Sacred Music of Havana and the Festival of Young Pianists. His music has also been presented in the Contemporary Music Cycles at the Superior Conservatory of Córdoba in Argentina. His work has been exhibited in important venues such as the Musikverein in Vienna, Gasteig in Munich and the Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel. Outstanding musicians and groups have premiered their works such as the Ensemble Kontrapunkte, Niurka González, Antoin Herrera-López Kessel, etc. In the city of Regensburg, parallel to his studies, he has carried out an intense musical work. In 2022 with students from the HfKM-Regensburg he founded the ensemble Ekkip for the promotion of contemporary music, performing his first concert at the Tage Neue Musik festival in 2023 organized by the university. He has also organized concerts in renowned spaces of the city such as the Klang.Raum.Museum concert series, where he commissioned 5 other Latin American composers works for solo recorder where the theme of birds is linked to music and poetry. He was also commissioned by the Kammermusikfestival Regensburg in 2021 for the composition of two chamber works and in 2023 by the Art Vokal chamber choir with the work Lux-vier Visionen des Lichtes for soloists, ensemble and choir.  

 

Daniel Toledo Guillén has received several awards for his work as a composer such as the Premio Ojalá 2018 for symphonic creation in Cuba and the second prize in the contest held by the New York ensemble 8 Strings & a Whistle in 2020Likewise, in 2018 he was awarded the AHS Commutation Scholarship in Cuba. From this scholarship a CD was made with a selection of his music, entitled Abismos by the label Colibrí
