E-border

“E-border” was commissioned by Vertixe Sonora Ensemble as a part of the cycle “Correspondencias sonoras”, organized by CGAC (Galician Contemporary Art Centre). The point of departure is Xabier Ribas pictures exhibition called “Ceuta Border Fence” and “Melilla Border Fence”.The photographer points: “tags, pins, passwords, e‐borders, congestion charges, and dissuasive security measures: they define a landscape of securization and membership turned into one of disassurance, anxiety and fear”.

“E-border” involves two different sonority worlds. On the one hand, the “Air des sauvages de l'Amerique”, written down in Diderot's and d'Alambert's “L'Encyclopédie”. That tune is an example of an historical European glance over a distant and foreign culture. In the other hand, the spectral analysis of a credit card sound, soft and strong border of the unsafe feelings in an unequal society. Both elements are spread as invisible ground of the composition.
