Now the shadow of the pillar...(Part IV)

Now the shadow of the pillar…is a cycle of works for various instrumental ensembles.   Began in1995 and partially inspired from “Jalousie” of Alain Robbe-Grillet, the eight-part cycle attempts to create an interaction between illusionary and “real” worlds. This polarity also has associations in its title, i.e. “pillar” and its “shadow,” and directly parallels the “internal” versus the “external” aspects of music in these works.  It is especially imperative in Part IV, where the imagination of the performer and listener is crucial in interpretation of these disparate worlds.
