Demian LUNA

Argentine composer, born in Córdoba on January 22, 1975.
He studied composition and piano at the School of Arts of the National University of Córdoba, Argentina. In 2002 he traveled to Barcelona (Spain), to study "Musical specialization in Composition and Instrumentation" in the “Liceu High Conservatory of Music", being a student of the Spanish composer Benet Casablancas. Later he expanded his compositional training in the CRR 93 of Aubervilliers-Paris, with Martin Matalon.

He has achieved as an active student in master classes and courses by prestigious musicians: Jonathan Harvey, G. Aperghis, B. Ferneyhough, F. Cerha, Kaija Saariaho, Luis De Pablo, Cristóbal Halffter, Héctor Parra, Alberto Posadas, Martín Matalón, César Camarero, Giacomo Manzoni, Franco Donatoni, Arditti Quartet (Workshop).
His works have received various awards and distinctions: "Francisco Guerrero Marín" Prize XIX Young Composers CDMC-Fundación Autor, ”2nd Amics del Liceu Vocal Composition Contest" (Barcelona), "V Musici Mojanesi Contest 2009" (Treviso, Italy), "Incentive for the creation of symphonic works 2010" Fundación Autor-AEOS (Spanish Association of Symphonic Orchestras), "Grant for creation 2010" granted by the National Council of Culture and Arts (CONCA) and the Generalitat de Catalunya, "TRINAC 2010", "TRINAC 2012" (National Tribune of Composers-Argentina), etc.

In 2012 he was selected to represent Argentina in the "World Music Days 2012" in Belgium, organized by the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM).

His music has been performed in prestigious halls: Auditorium of the Liceu Conservatory (Barcelona), Ateneu Barcelonés, Auditorium 400 of the Reina Sofía National Art Center Museum (Madrid), L'Auditori (Barcelona), Student Residence (Madrid), Palau de la Música de Valencia, Großer Saal Akademie für Tonkunst (Darmstadt, Germany), Audience Council of Economic Sciences (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Auditorium of the Perpignan Conservatory (France), Palau de la Música Catalana, Palau de les Arts of Valencia, Cervantes Theater (Málaga), Arnold Schoenberg Center (Vienna), DeSingel (Antwerpen, Belgium), SGAE Auditorium (Barcelona), CRR93 Auditorium (Paris), Institut Français Barcelona Auditorium, etc.
He has composed for solo instruments, voice, chamber and symphonic music.

Since 2013, he’s the artistic and pedagogical director of the Barcelona Modern Ensemble and director of the “Barcelona Modern-International Composition Course and Festival”.
From the 2016-17 academic year, he is professor of composition and theory at the Liceu High Conservatory of Music.

He is currently working on a large piece for a dancer and live ensemble, to be released in may 2019, and in a film-concert project. During the month of september, Columna Musica will release a CD with all his piano production, recorded by the Catalan pianist David Casanova.
