Christian Dachez (*1951) is a french composer and is currently living in the Normandy.
After his compositional studies at the C.R.R. in Lille, he had studied trombone with Raymond Katarzinsky and orchestral conducting with Jean-Claude Hartmann in Paris. He concludes the theory of harmony, fuge and counterpoint with distinction at Yvonne Desportes.
Furthermore, Dachez is an accordionist and was a finalist in the accordion competition „La coupe du Président de la République“.
Christian Dachez is also a sought-after film composer (among others for the film “Destin“ (1978) as part of the „Festival Fantastique de Paris“, various commercials as well as cinema, television and chanson).
His studies in the U.P.I.C. as well as focusing on the works of György Ligeti – especially on his requiem – form his compositional language.
His music is performed and commissioned by various performers (including the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France, the Orchestre de Perpignan-Méditerranée, the Orchestre Colonne, the Orchestre de Flûtes Français, the Ensembles Accroche-note, Artédie, Camerata Alma Viva, Impronta, the Octuor de Violoncelles de Beauvais, the Ensemble Nomos de Christophe Roy, the Quintette "Just'à Cinq", the Vokalensembles Musicatreize, Soli-Tutti, the Ensemble Vocal de Bourgogne, the Chœur Britten et Ôm, the Chœur de Chambre imagÔ, as well as different soloists like Armand Angster, Françoise Kubler, Mari Kobayashi, Alain Buet, Alain Damiens, Pierre-Yves Artaud, François Kerdoncuff, Nicolas Prost, Max Bonnay, Marika Lombardi, Filippo Mazzoli, Marta Pettoni and so on).
He has also worked with several festivals, foundations or organizations, radio stations and conservatories (alter alia the society Les Amis de l'Orgue de Chambéry, the Festivals Aujourd'hui Musiques, de Violoncelle de Beauvais, Risonanze Armoniche (Trento/Italia), Promenades en Pays d'Auge, Radio-France (France-Musique and France-Culture) and the Conservatories Lille, Arras and Beauvais.
For Christian Dachez, the musical happening occurs in a very narrow sound space. The choice of the musical means remains very concentrated and economical. The most important for Dachez is the experience of emotions releasing the sound happening in the here and now.
