Julián Ávila Sausor

(Valencia, 1982) · Composer and Sound Artist

Nowadays he is professor of Music Technology at RCSMM (Madrid Royal Conservatory) and coordinator of Sonology studies. He has been lecturer of the University of Manchester.

Focuses on the area of electroacoustic composition based on space and multidisciplinary projects, specializing at (Centre for the Diffusion of Contemporary Music in Madrid).

Music Degree at RCSMM (Madrid Royal School of Music). A Master’s Degree in course at the Centre of Technology for the Performing Arts of INAEM (Ministry of Culture, Spain).

He has participadted in a collaborative project between the University of Manchester and the Institute of Sonology at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (www.dutch-uk.network) with the clarinetist Marij van Gorkom. In 2015 was the premiere in Madrid of Crescencia, commissioned by Spanish Radio and TV Orchestra and Choir (RTVE orchestra) and Travesía Crossing the States of the Word, a multidisciplinary installation commissioned by Telefonica and the Colombian Embassy presented in ARCO 2015 (International Fair of Contemporary Art).

He has been awarded with the national competition ‘Premio de Composición del Colegio de España en París 2015’ (Ministry of Culture, Spain). ‘Francisco Guerrero Marín’ 2013 and 2016 award of Fundación SGAE-CNDM. Composer's Marathon V – 2013 (Vienna). National first prize in the competition INJUVE Creation 2012. First prize in Vacances Percutantes 2011 (Bordeaux, France). Second prize in the competition INJUVE Creation 2011. First prize in Hui, hui música 2007.
