Originally from Azerbaijan, Ayaz Gambarli’s compositions have been performed in many venues and festivals in countries such as United States, Latvia, Austria, Germany, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Russia, etc.

As a composer, Gambarli won numerous awards and recognitions, including the 1st prizes for the 29th “Allea III” (Boston, USA), 9th “Franz Schubert und die Musik der Moderne” (Graz, Austria), international composition competitions. One of his recent works, “Mirage” for solo piano, was selected as the 4th Mauricio Kagel Competition (Vienna, Austria) winner and published by Universal Edition.

Prior to composition, Gambarli received his musical training in piano performance at the Music School# 4 and at the Baku Music College, and performed in various concerts with a vast repertoire as a pianist-soloist during his studies at the latter. Later he studied and received degrees in composition from Uzeyir Hajibeyli Baku Academy of Music (Bachelor's degree) with prof. Arif Melikov, and Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (Master's degree) with prof. Roland Kronlaks, and Janis Petraskevics.

Gambarli collaborated with chamber groups, large ensembles and orchestras from many countries, such as Mise-En (USA), piano trio “Elole” (Germany), “Courage” (Germany), Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra (Azerbaijan), Liepaja Symphony Orchestra (Latvia), “Ricochet” ensemble (Ukraine), “Con Tempo” and “CodeNZa” (Azerbaijan), piano trio “Jade” (South Korea) among many others. His music has received performances at the international festivals such as “Quinar” Neue Musik Aus Aserbaidschan, TonLagen (Germany), “Omnibus Laboratorium” (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), Mise-En Music Festival (New York, USA), “Music of the Young” and “KievMusicFest” (Kiev, Ukraine), Nasimi Festival, Uzeyir Hacibeyli festival, Gabala festival (Azerbaijan).
