Nicolás is an Argentine composer and artistic director who has been living in Strasbourg, France, since 2017. His compositional style is influenced by experimental sound, gesture, and research, as well as non-academic music. He has created works in instrumental, mixed, and acousmatic genres.
He holds a bachelor's degree in instrumental composition from the National University of Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and a master's degree in instrumental composition from the Haute école des arts du Rhin (HEAR) in Strasbourg, where he studied with Daniel D'Adamo and Tom Mays.
Currently, Nicolás is pursuing a doctoral thesis on hybrid space in composition at the University of Strasbourg under the guidance of Pierre Michel and Philippe Lalitte.
Nicolás has received international recognition, including the "New Generation" award in 2020 for his work "La décadence des Jardins," the "Prix Ars Electronica" in 2021, and being a finalist at CIME 2021 for "Night-blooming genera." In 2023, he won the second prize in the composition competition "New Generation" for his composition "Oil Rainbow".
He has collaborated with ensembles such as Neue Vokalsolisten Stuttgart, L'Imaginaire, Hanatsu Miroir, Ensemble Linea, Ensemble Multilaterale, Les Métaboles, and others. Nicolás has received guidance from composers such as Philippe Manoury, Luca Francesconi, Franck Bedrossian, Yann Robin, Raphael Cendo, Eva Reiter, and Johannes Maria Staud, among others.
From 2021 to 2023, Nicolás participated in a creative residency with Ensemble Linea, resulting in several solo and ensemble works. He collaborates closely with fellow musicians, including Marin Lambert, Guilhem Maynier, and Céline Peran. Currently, he co-directs the ensemble L’Imaginaire in Strasbourg, France, alongside Keiko Murakami.
