Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 13th,1976 composer Rodrigo E. Faina has a particularly interesting voice, and his diverse musical influences led him to create music that is often difficult to categorise. His work moves in between genres, and his unique voice has earned the recognition of numerous artists. In the last few years Rodrigo collaborated with different artists, ensembles and festivals from Europe and United States, including: Asko|Schönberg Ensemble, DoelenEnsemble, Metropole Orchestra, Bulgaria National Radio Symphony, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Netherlands Blazers Ensemble, Vince Mendoza, David Kweksilber Big Band, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Rotterdam International Jazz Festival, Sofia Music Weeks, YO Opera Festival, FIVC , Festival Espressioni and many others.
Rodrigo’s musical education has been very eclectic. He started his musical education as guitarist playing all kinds of music genres: Classical, Tango, Rock, Jazz etc. In the year 2002 he moved to The Netherlands to study Jazz guitar at the Amsterdam Conservatorium, where he had the chance to take lessons with some of the finest Jazz musicians from Europe and the United States. In the year 2006 he was accepted to study composition with Paul van Brugge and Klaas de Vries at the Rotterdam Conservatory, where a few years later he obtained his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree with honors.
Nowadays Rodrigo lives in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where he works as a freelance composer.
