Feliz Anne R. Macahis (b. 1987) is a Philippine-born composer whose works have been performed in the U.S.A., Canada, Argentina, Austria, France, Germany, Finland, Ukraine, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Her works were featured in KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen (Hannover), Die Zukunft beginnt um 19.15 Uhr! (Freiburg), Impuls Festival (Graz), Mise-en Festival (New York), ZKM Globale: Next Generation 6.0 (Karlsruhe), International Choral Kathaumixw (Powell River), Divertimento Ensemble International Workshop for Young Composers (Bobbio), Internationale Katarzyna Myćka Marimba Academie (Hannover), Etchings Festival (Auvillar), Duong Dai Festival (Ho Chi Mihn), Asian Composers League Contemporary Music Festival (Bangkok), and Manila Composers Lab (Quezon City).

Ms. Macahis is a Deutschlandstipendium recipient for SY 2014/15; winner of the Composition Competition for "Neue Musik und China," project in Cooperation with the Konfuzius-Institut an der Universität Hamburg, the Deichtorhallen Sammlung Falckenberg, and the Trio Catch; and 1st prize winner of 2015 Vareler Kompositionspreis. She received grants and commissions from the Fundación Musica AntiquaNova (Argentina), Manila Composers Lab- funded by the Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung, Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, Conseil des Arts du Canada, and Hannoversche Gesellschaft für Neue Musik.

Most recent performances include hibla, written for the MikroEnsemble- a newly-formed ensemble (Mikael Helasvuo, quarter-tone flute; Lauri Sallinen, quarter-tone clarinet; Veli Kujala, quarter-tone accordion; Juuso Nieminen, quarter-tone guitar; Elisa Järvi, quarter-tone piano; Johanna Franzon, violin; Sirja Nironen, cello) for microtonal music, performed at Pasimusic Festival in Finland; Widerhall des Stadtverfalls, performed by Martin Basler, Maike Stumpf, and Manuel Wagner, conducted by Sven Thomas Kiebler at the NEXT GENERATION, program for students of music and composition of the Donaueschingen Musiktage in Germany; one word. three syllables, performed by NYC-based Sirius Quartet, Siew-Wai Kok, Yong Yandsen, and Max Riefer at SoundBridge Festival in Malaysia; and Bardo, performed by Grupo 20/21 at Asian Composers League Young Composers Prize Concert in Philippines.

Feliz studied composition with Jonas Baes and Josefino Toledo at the University of the Philippines, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude, in 2009. She then studied with Kamran Ince at the University of Memphis, USA until 2011. She received lessons and participated in masterclasses by Stefano Gervasoni, Lee Hyla, Sandeep Bhagwati, Perluigi Billone, Michael Jarrell; and reading sessions by Ensemble Musik Fabrik, Wet Ink Ensemble, Neue Vocalsolisten, Ensemble Schwerpunkt, and Chambre d' écoute. She’s currently studying with Oliver Schneller and Joachim Heintz at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. (2016)
