Notes on this piece
Sangue Inverso is a piece of large duration divided in parts. The names for each part are inspired in mineral elements. All structural elements, from micro to macro, are based in ideas of symmetry. It is constituted by 7 movements over 7 movements, all in different tempi, that coordinate and synchronize in specific moments.
Each movement could be played independently, as an individual piece or with a piece designed to be performed simultaneously. In the case of "Sangue Inverso: Magnetite" (for piano solo), it could be played superimposed with "Inverso Sangue: Âmbar" (for clarinet) or "Inverso Sangue: Âmbar (B)" (for saxophone). This performance version should be indicated as: "Sangue Inverso: Magnetite + Inverso Sangue: Âmbar”.
Magnetite is a mineral constituted by oxides of iron. The name magnet may come from lodestones found in Magnesia region. A naturally magnetized piece of the mineral magnetite is called a lodestone, or loadstone, which in Middle English means course stone or leading stone, from the now-obsolete meaning of lode as ‘journey, way’.
