Maja Bosnić is a composer and performer from Belgrade. She is drawn to impossible missions, absurd solutions, limited material, playfulness, uncertain outcomes, audience participation, treating instruments as "ready-made" objects, and treating everyday objects as musical instruments. She obtained a PhD degree in music composition at Goldsmiths University in London and is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Composition at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. She writes music for various ensembles, orchestras, electronics, and multimedia projects. Bosnić’s works have been performed in festivals, such as Heroines of Sound, UpToThree, CTM Festival, Darmstädter Ferienkurse (Germany), musikprotokoll, Impuls (Austria), Warsaw Autumn (Poland), IYAF 2011, Composers Forum in London (UK), Spazio Musica (Italy), Delian New Music Academy (Greece), Tzlil Meudcan Festival (Israel), Distat Terra (Argentina), Sites + Subjects (Bulgaria), Timsonia (Romania), International Review of Composers (Serbia) and many more. In 2022 she was one of Progetto Positano fellowship holders, awarded by ensemble mosaik from Berlin, Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung and Wilhelm Kempff Stiftung, and was selected amongst 718 composers for a commission from Riot Ensemble. She was awarded the third prize at the international composition competition New Music Generation in Kazahstan 2020, honorable mention at the Thailand New Music and Arts Symposium 2020, scholarships, and annual grants by the Ministry of Youth of the Republic of Serbia (2008-2013), Donaueschinger Muziktage 2014 (Germany), and Delian New Music Academy (Greece) 2019. Since 2010, she has been leading various projects and workshops in Zabuna – New Music Association in Belgrade. In 2023 CK13 published a 2CD set album with her works: Maja Bosnić – A Portrait of a Composer.
