Héctor Oltra García

Dr. Héctor Oltra García (Alboraia, Valencia). Higher Graduate in the specialties of Composition and Orchestral Conducting at the Conservatorio Superior de Música "Joaquín Rodrigo" in Valencia, with professors Ramón Ramos and Manuel Galduf, among others; Master in Contemporary Music and PhD in Music at the Universitat Politècnica de València with cum laude mention and proposal for the Extraordinary Doctorate Award.

Dr. Oltra has been tracing an intense activity in contemporary musical creation, developed multidisciplinary through composition, direction and musical research:

As composer, his works have been premiered and programmed at various international contemporary music festivals in Spain, the United States, Romania, Italy, Greece, Poland, Serbia, Russia, Germany, the United Kingdom and Malaysia. He has directed the Orquesta Sinfónica del Mediterráneo, the Symphony Orchestra of the Superior Conservatory of Music of Valencia, the Regional Band and Choirs of the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencian Community FSMCV, among others. He is currently the artistic and musical director of the Ensemble Síntesis, a chamber music group specialized in contemporary music.

As researcher, Dr. Oltra focuses his work and publications on newly created music, especially Valencian music, of which he is considered the leading expert in the figure of the composer Ramón Ramos Villanueva (Alginet, València 1954-2012), who dedicated his Doctoral Thesis.

Currently he is a Doctor Professor at the International University of Valencia - VIU, where he teaches in the Master's Degree in Musical Composition; and he is the artistic director of the Jornadas de Música Contemporánea Ramón Ramos (Alginet, Valencia).
