Nicolas Roulive is born in 1989 in Namur, Belgium. 

He started to study the piano at 11. After completing a Bachelor degree in Piano in 2010 in Mons, Belgium, he went for studying composition in Paris, with prof. Eric Tanguy, then with prof. Edith Canat de Chizy.
He is currently following a Master degree in Mixed Medias composition at the Haute Ecole de Musique of Geneva, Switzerland, with prof. Michael Jarrell, Luis Naon and Gilbert Nouno.
He also attended the masterclasses and lessons of Kaija Saariaho, Rebecca Saunders, Philippe Leroux, Stefan Prins etc. 

Nicolas was invited in international festivals and masterclasses, such as « Sound of Wander 2017 » with Chaya Czernowin in Milan, « ManiFeste» 2018 and 2019 at IRCAM in Paris, where he studied with Stefano Gervasoni; « CrossRoads Festival » 2018 and 2019 in Salzburg, « Mixtur 2019 » in Barcelona etc.

He worked with international musicians and ensembles which performed his works, such as Marie Ythier, Marie Mercier, Laure Magnien, Hidetaka Nakagawa, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Contrechamps, Ensemble NAMES (New Art and Music Ensemble Salzburg), Ensemble Proton Bern etc.

Alongside his composition work, Nicolas regularly performs as a pianist in both classical and contemporary repertoires.
